The Chargé d'Affaires of the United States (US) embassy in Libya, Jeremy Berndt, signed Friday the lease for property that will enable continued development of new US embassy in Tripoli, saying it was an important step toward fully resuming US diplomatic operations in Libya.
Berndt has said that the US is committed to strengthening partnership with Libya and the Libyan people throughout all parts of the country.
"I was honored to be joined by Mr. Bashir Gnijiwa, Director of the State Properties Authority, to mark this occasion and to thank him for the invaluable support of Libyan government officials for our efforts.” Berndt said.
Last July, the Government of National Unity approved the allocation of a property in the municipality of Janzour, with an area of 20.000 square meters, to the US embassy in Libya. The decision directed the State Property and Real Estate Registration Departments to complete the allocation procedures.
