The Libyan Army's Volcano of Rage Operation said Saturday it had detected Russia's Wagner Group mercenaries building sand barriers between Sirte and Jufra, which it said was a violation of the 5+5 Joint Military Commission agreement.

The media office of the operation said Wagner mercenaries' building of such sand barriers was a violation of the ceasefire signed in Geneva last October.

The operation said earlier it had monitored Wagner mercenaries digging trenches in their positions between Sirte and Jufra toward the south, saying it could be to place a pipe and pump oil for illicit sale.

Haftar's mercenaries, Wagner and Janjaweed, left Sirte briefly before the House of Representatives session to give the Government of National Unity confidence then returned afterwards on March 12, according to the spokesman of the Sirte-Jufra Operations Room, Abdelhadi Drah.

Meanwhile, the 5+5 Joint Military Commission said last Tuesday the coastal road could be opened in two weeks, without any further clarification as to what would happen to the mercenaries who are continuing to burrow in across the region, in addition to the constant arrival of Russian military aircraft to pro-Haftar areas in eastern Libya.
