The West Coast Military Zone announced that it had “confronted armed criminal groups” attempting to infiltrate the security operations area in Al-Ajilat district, adding that upon its forces entering the city early Monday morning, they detected “attempts by some infiltrators to exploit the situation to disrupt the progress of the operation,” according to a statement on its Facebook page.
The Zone's commander, General Salah Al-Deen Al-Namroush, directed the operations room to “deal firmly and decisively with any party or group within the operational area attempting to hinder the role of the Zone's forces in maintaining the security and stability of the city.”
He also ordered coordination with the military police to establish checkpoints at the city’s entrances, exits, and inside the city to pursue any groups and deter those attempting to disrupt the operations, as stated in the statement.
The Zone emphasized that “the actions of those who have disregarded innocent lives will not deter the forces from carrying out their duties.” It noted that the military police in the western region had deployed patrols in the city, and the region’s commander, Major General Ali Al-Dhib, toured the streets of Al-Ajilat, where he spoke with residents “who welcomed and praised the role of the army and its sacrifices to ensure the security and stability of the city.”
The Zone called on residents of Al-Ajilat to communicate with it to report any assaults, suspicious activities, or locations where outlaws might be hiding.
In a related development, forces affiliated with the Zone raided a hideout used as a large factory for alcohol production. They destroyed more than 100,000 liters of alcohol, which had been distributed in cities along the coast and in the western region. The Zone reiterated its commitment to protecting citizens and their properties within the framework of the law while taking the necessary measures against anyone proven to be involved in such activities.
