The US ambassador/ Special Envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, will meet his French, Italian, and German counterparts in Washington, on 13 January to discuss the situation in Libya, the French website, Africa Intelligence reports.

The publisher anticipated that the meeting will also be joined by the head of the United Nations Mission in Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, besides Egyptian and Emirati officials.

Africa Intelligence said that Washington could also try to promote the nomination of US diplomat Kenneth Gluck to be the second man in the United Nations Support Mission in Libya.

The US seeks to appoint Gluck to succeed Zimbabwean President Raysidon Zeninga, who will step down from his post at the end of this month.
