The World Food Program (WFP) said that Libya needs funding of up to $18.6 million to cover humanitarian requirements until next July of this year, adding in a report that humanitarian needs in Libya have worsened with the arrival of hundreds of thousands of Sudanese refugees in the country.

According to the latest data, the UN Refugee Agency recorded the arrival of at least 240,000 Sudanese refugees in Libya by the end of last January, increasing the scale of humanitarian needs in areas such as health, food, and shelter.

According to the WFP, more than 70,000 people have received humanitarian assistance, including the distribution of 623 tons of food supplies. WFP also reported that cash assistance amounting to $62,580 was provided last January, with a need to raise an additional $18.6 million to meet humanitarian needs between February and next July.

Of this amount, $13.5 million will be allocated to the assistance provided by the World Food Programme to reach 50,000 refugees monthly during 2025, WFP said.
