The mountain town of Zintan in western Libya has signed a twin city agreement with the Italian city of Verona to enhance investment and development for both sides.

Zintan Municipality said the friendship agreement was signed on October 06 in Verona by both mayors of the cities.

It aims to enhance cooperation and encourage investment and exchange of expertise in all fields.

"Both sides agreed to promote cooperation between local authorities in order to exchange expertise in urban planning, architecture, and capacity building of administrative staff," Zintan Municipality reported in its official Facebook page, adding that the cooperation will also include development of joint projects in the fields of economy, industry, health, education, culture and tourism.

Representatives from the Italian government and Libya's eastern government and parliament attended the signing ceremony, the municipality said.
