Zuwara and Zintan signed a peace agreement on Monday. The agreement, signed in Zuwara, obliges both cities to pledge not to arrest anyone based on identity and to secure the sovereignty of the roads that mark their administrative boundaries as well as ensuring free movement for passersby in those areas.
The agreement also obliges both sides to stop false media propaganda and allow them to exchange information to intercept any violations to the agreement.
Both sides also agreed to prevent external parties to use their lands as a stepping-stone for launching attacks or causing troubles to both cities.
“An observing committee is formed to ensure that all Zintani groups pull out from Zuwara districts and that none of the parties interferes in the other’s affairs.” The agreement reads.
