Al-Ahli Tripoli made history for itself and the Libyan football as it gained a spot in the quarterfinals of the CAF Champions League on Sunday.

Al-Ahli Tripoli drew with Egypt's Zamalek 2-2 in Alexandria as part of the last round matches for Group B.

With that draw, Al-Ahli rang second and managed to deprive Egyptian top team, Zamalek, from making it through the quarterfinals of CAF Champions League.

USM Alger from Algeria rang first in Group B.

Bassem Mursi and Marouf Yusif scored for Zamalek at the minutes 14 and 75, while Al-Ahli Tripoli's two goals were scored by Mohammed Al-Ganudi and Vivian Mabidi at the minutes 45 and 69.

In the quarterfinals round, Al-Ahli Tripoli will play Tunisia's Étoile du Sahel, which rang first in Group A even before playing the last match of the first round.

According to Al-Ahli Tripoli's coach, Talat Yusif, the team could play its match against Étoile du Sahel in Cairo instead in Tunisia so that the Tunisian team won't take advantage of playing both first and second leg matches at home.
