Al-Ahly Benghazi basketball team qualified for the final of the Basketball African League (BAL) in Rwanda after beating on Wednesday the Nigerian team Rivers Hoopers in the semifinals with a score of 89-83.

Al-Ahly Benghazi will face the Angolan team, Petro de Luanda, in the final match, scheduled to be held next Saturday. Luanda won against the Cape Town Tigers of South Africa to reach the final.

Al-Ahly Benghazi gave a wonderful performance during the first and second quarters to end the first half with a lead of 48-37. In the third and fourth quarters, the rivalry continued between the two teams, until regular time ended in a 73-73 tie. The two teams played extra time, and Al-Ahly Benghazi was able to settle the match with a score of 89-83.

Al-Ahly Benghazi hopes that the Arab clubs will continue to excel, as 3 Arab clubs were crowned in the last 3 editions of the BAL:  Zamalek of Egypt, Al-Ittihad Al-Monastir of Tunisia, and Al-Ahly of Egypt.
