Al-Itihad football club has qualified for the second round of the Orange CAF Confederation Cup 2016 even though it lost 1-3 against Niger’s Saun Deep football club in the second-leg match of the preliminary round Saturday.

Al-Itihad lost the second-leg match, which took place in Niger’s capital Niamey, but it managed to qualify for the next round as it beat Saun Deep in the first-leg match by 4-1 in Sfax, Tunisia.

The match against Saun Deep was previously delayed due to the closure of Niamey airport upon a strike by the workers in there.

Next week, Al-Itihad will play Midiama football club from Ghana as part of the second round matches.
