The Inspection Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) said it would visit Benina Stadium in mid-May to determine its readiness to host international matches for Libyan clubs and teams.

After the second-leg match of Al-Ahly Tripoli and Al-Ittihad on April 24, of the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals, Benina Stadium will be turfed anew.

CAF granted an exceptional temporary deadline to the Libyan Football Association to carry out some repairs related to the pitch of Benina Stadium and some of its facilities.

Meanwhile, the Libyan Football Federation had already made some of these repairs at the Stadium, which remains the only CAF-approved stadium in Libya. The repairs included the press conference rooms and changing rooms.

Benina Stadium will host next Sunday an important match between Al-Ittihad and its traditional rival, Al-Ahly Tripoli, in the second-leg of the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals. The first-leg match - at Benina as well - ended in a goalless tie.
