The Chairman of the Libyan Football Federation (LFF) Anwar Al-Tishani, said the Libyan Soccer League to kick off soon with two groups, pointing that the participation of the sports clubs will be optional.

Al-Tishani added that there will be no relegation and no measures will be taken against the teams that do not wish to play in the league.

He confirmed in a press statement that the Libyan Cup competition is going to kick start soon as well, pointing that the first round of the Libyan Cup will include branch federations and teams from the second and third league ranks, while the second round will be supervised by the Public Competitions Committee with the participation of the first league rank teams.

In a meeting with the General Assembly of the LFF, the first league rank teams already refused to take part in the Libyan Soccer League without receiving financial support.

However, the LFF had previously announced that the Libyan Soccer League will begin in April, yet the teams did not agree with the decision, knowing that the LFF is gasping for holding the league to avoid the sanctions that can deprive Libya of participating in the African competitions.
