Libyan Football Federation (LFF) President Nasser Al-Suwai’i has voiced strong criticism against the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) recent ruling, which imposed heavy penalties on Libya’s national team following a delisted match for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Al-Suwai’i described the decision as “unjust and malicious,” alleging that the Nigerian Football Federation’s influence within CAF played a role in the outcome.
The CAF Disciplinary Committee’s ruling included a 3-0 default loss for Libya and a $50,000 fine, to be settled within 60 days, in response to incidents during the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in October.
Al-Suwai’i confirmed that the LFF would file an official appeal within hours, calling the sanctions unacceptable. He further indicated that if the appeal is denied, the LFF would escalate the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to ensure “their legitimate rights are secured.”
