Equatorial Guinea defeated Libya 2-0 in the second leg of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the new Malabo Stadium on Monday night.

In the early stages of the match, the Guineans were made to sweat as the visitors produced excellent chances and looked determent to break the try-scoring deadlock before the break.

However, after the restart, the Libyans came out flat and lost their footing in the match, and with Mohamed Touhami scoring an own goal in minute 51 things just started to fall apart.

With six minutes remaining in the match, the Cameroon referee awarded a penalty kick to the Equatoguineans, which Frederico Bikoro successfully shot, sealing the victory for his team and limiting Libya's hopes in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

As a result, Equatorial Guinea claimed their first three points while the Mediterranean Knights remained in third place, and Tunisia tops the 10th group with four points.
