The Libyan football team lost 1-0 to their Nigerian counterpart on Friday in the second game of the Group C of the African Nations Championship, which is currently being held in Morocco until the fourth of February.

The match, which was played at the Grand Stade de Tanger, witnessed a relative advantage to the Nigerians who dominated most of the ball play and managed to impose themselves on the pitch wasting many opportunities, while the Libyans had only one chance to score by Abdul Salam Faytouri.

Forward Sunday Faleye scored the only goal in the 79th minute after a corner kick from the right.

This win places Nigeria now top of the group along with Rwanda on four points from two matches, one point ahead of Libya, which fell to third in the group after winning their first match against Equatorial Guinea.

In other matches for the same group, Rwanda beat Equatorial Guinea 1-0 to eliminate them from the tournament after losing their first two matches.

The Libyan team needs to beat Rwanda in the third game next Tuesday to qualify for the quarterfinals, while Rwanda needs only a draw to qualify for the next round.
