The Acting Chairman of the General Authority for Communications and Information Technology, Abdul Basit Al-Baour, stressed the importance of enhancing Arab cooperation to confront the growing cyber challenges, considering that comprehensive cyber security is an urgent necessity to ensure a safe and sustainable digital future in the Arab region.
This came in a speech he delivered during his participation in the first meeting of the Council of Arab Cybersecurity Ministers, which was held last Monday in Riyadh, where Al-Baour stressed Libya's commitment and keenness to enhance a digital environment that supports growth and development, stressing at the same time the importance of integrating Arab efforts to confront cyber attacks targeting national interests.
He also called for developing joint Arab strategies to protect the digital infrastructure, with the need to encourage the exchange of expertise and knowledge between Arab countries to enhance their cyber readiness.
The Council of Arab Cybersecurity Ministers welcomed, in their first meeting, the proposal submitted by the General Authority for Communications and Information Technology in Libya regarding the preparation of a unified Arab policy for secure digital content, which aims to enhance digital security, protect privacy, and adhere to societal values in the Arab region.
The meeting agenda included vital topics such as developing Arab cybersecurity strategies, building joint national capabilities, and enhancing the exchange of information on cyber threats and attacks.
