Libya has made significant strides in cybersecurity, according to the latest Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) released by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
The country has advanced to the third level of institutional maturity, reflecting growing efforts to bolster its cybersecurity infrastructure.
The report, now in its fifth edition, highlights Libya's progress in areas such as legal, technical, and regulatory measures, capacity building, and international cooperation.
The improvements have pushed the country's cybersecurity maturity to 68.09%, a notable increase from the previous assessment in 2020.
This advancement is primarily credited to the work of the Cybersecurity Project team at Libya's Telecommunications Holding Company. The team has been collaborating with local and international partners to protect the nation's digital infrastructure and safeguard citizens' data from cyber threats.
The Libyan Telecommunications Holding Company emphasized that with these developments, Libya is positioning itself as part of the global digital landscape while working towards becoming a digitally secure and smart nation.
