The High National Elections Commission signed the charter of the Arab Regional Organization of EMBs in Beirut on Monday as the first organization in the field of regional cooperation for elections administration.

 

 

 

The charter was also signed by elections administrations representatives from Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia, Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen with the UN Development Program Representative and the UN delegate toLebanon plus several other officials.

 

 

 

The formation of the Arab Regional Organization of EMBs was announced during the ceremony events and Dr. Imad Al-Sayeh, chairman of Libya's electoral commission, was assigned as its Head.

 

 

 

Dr. Al-Sayeh said that the organization aims at coordinating efforts of EMBs in the Arab region and sharing knowledge and expertise in the fields of elections and democracy so that they become capable of conducting elections with international standards, adding that such an organization would help establish professionalism and integrity in the elections processes in the Arab region.

 

 

 

The Arab Regional Organization of EMBs is a regional Arab independent and nonpolitical organization, which was founded due to the efforts exerted by the member countries’ elections administrations in April 2014.
