As part of enhancing support for groups with special needs and empowering Libyan women, the National Center for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Children with Autism, in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Libyan Women, headed by Dr. Laila Suissi, have organized a dialogue session titled "Autism: Between Challenge and Hope" under the slogan "Their Voice is Silent... but the Language of the Heart Speaks."
The session opened with a welcoming statement by the Center's Director General, Ms. Nadia Altarshani, who emphasized the importance of institutional integration to support children with autism spectrum disorder and their families.
She also highlighted the importance of partnership with the Supreme Council for Libyan Women in raising community awareness.
The session was chaired by Professor Dr. Hamida Al-Bousifi, and discussions covered several topics, including early diagnosis, psychological pressures on families, and the social dimensions of the disorder. Live testimonies from mothers and practitioners in the field were also presented, in addition to interventions from specialists on rehabilitation and medical aspects.
The session witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Center and the Supreme Council for Libyan Women, aiming to streamline efforts to support families, empower women, and develop diagnostic and care mechanisms.
The session concluded with a call for concerted efforts by state institutions and civil society to overcome the challenges facing workers and parents working in the field of autism, with an emphasis on providing psychological and awareness-raising support.
