The Great Hall in the capital, Tripoli, hosted an awareness event on Wednesday, April 16, organized by the Libyan Mine Action Centre (LMAC), as part of the commemoration of International Mine Awareness Day. The event was widely attended, including representatives of governmental and civil society institutions, specialized mine clearance teams, a number of ambassadors and members of diplomatic missions of friendly countries accredited to Tripoli, and the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL). This event aimed to highlight the challenges posed by landmines and explosive remnants of war, review efforts to protect affected communities, and raise public awareness of ways to prevent and address these risks.
