A five-day national workshop on Child Protection Case Management, which brought together important stakeholders from the Ministry of Social Affairs, European Union, and UNICEF came to a close on Thursday.

The final session was presided over by Minister of Social Affairs Wafaa al-Kilani, Head of Operations of the EU Delegation to Libya, Sandra Goffin, and UNICEF Libya Special Representative a.i. Lana Wreikat.

25 social workers from the Ministry of Social Affairs participated in the training, which had as its overall goal the development of capacity in Child Protection Case Management among social workers who will be designated by the Ministry of Social Affairs to work with non-Libyan children, including unaccompanied and separated children who have been released from detention centers and placed in temporary shelters.

A diverse approach has been taken during the five-day training sessions, with the aim of making it dynamic and participatory. It made use of a variety of communication methods to solicit feedback and evaluation from participants, as well as case studies, role-plays, discussions, and group work to help participants gain knowledge and skills.
