The National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB), in cooperation with the Ministry of Local Government and with strategic support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has organized a workshop titled "Libyan Women and Their Role in Supporting International Cooperation" at the Board’s headquarters in Tripoli.
The workshop aimed at highlighting the important role of Libyan women in peace building, decision-making, and to strengthen Libya's international relations, as part of the NESDB’s initiatives aimed at supporting state institutions and empowering national competencies.
The event was attended by the NESDB’s Director General, Dr. Mahmud Al-Futaisi, and the Minister of Local Government, Mr. Badreddine Al-Toumi, along with representatives from several ministries and official institutions, including the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Planning, Oil, Health, Higher Education, Tourism, Defense, Economy, Finance, and Social Affairs.
Representatives from the House of Representatives, the High Council of State, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), a number of members of diplomatic missions, and prominent Libyan women in the fields of diplomacy and international cooperation were also present.
Participants discussed three main themes: leadership and the legacy of Libyan women in political decision-making, their role in formulating and strengthening international relations, as well as their contribution to international cooperation.
