The Minister of Economy and Trade Mohammed Al-Huweij sent an official invitation to Maltese companies to participate in the Tripoli International Fair in its 50th session, which is scheduled to be held in May.

This invitation came during Al-Huweij's meeting with the Maltese Ministers of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs, Trade and Economy, to discuss the mechanism for developing bilateral relations in order to increase the volume of trade exchange and strategic investments through joint cooperation in several fields, according to a statement issued by the Libyan Ministry of Economy.

The meeting also discussed aspects of cooperation, reviewing signed agreements and memoranda of understanding, forming joint cooperation committees between Libya and Malta, and reviving the Libyan-Maltese Higher Committee, which has been suspended since 2013.

Al-Huweij stressed the need to solve the problems and obstacles facing Maltese companies to return to work in Libya, inviting the two Maltese ministers to visit Libya. He pointed out the necessity of developing relations between banking institutions and insurance companies, facilitating the movement of shipping, and opening a direct sea line between the two countries.
