The Department of Antiquities has reached an agreement with the European Union Commission to support the Archaeological Restoration Centre project in Leptis Magna, enhancing efforts to preserve and restore ancient artefacts.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, the Department highlighted that the Centre, to be housed within the Leptis Magna Museum, will play a crucial role in training skilled personnel to handle various technical aspects related to antiquities.
The agreement follows a meeting held last Monday at the Head of the Department of Antiquities office, where Libyan officials and the EU Commission team discussed the outcomes of the first international conference on the preservation and protection of Libyan antiquities, which took place on May 12.
