The head of the High Council of State (HCS), Mohamed Takala, has discussed
with the Officer-in-Charge of of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Raisedon Zenenga, the need to support the work of the 6 + 6 committee to amend the draft electoral laws to ensure they are implementable based on the High National Elections Commission, other Libyan parties, and UNSMIL proposals.
They also agreed on the need to build consensus among all stakeholders on the outstanding contentious issues to enable elections, and on maintaining stability after the recent armed clashes in Tripoli, according to the UNSMIL Facebook page.
Takala appreciated the critical role of UNSMIL in facilitating a Libyan-owned dialogue and looked forward to continuing the fruitful working relationship between HCS and the UNSMIL.
