Two oil technicians died and three others from the Sirte Oil and Gas Production and Manufacturing Company were injured as a result of cleaning operations of the gas pipeline in the Al-Aziziya municipality.
According to the municipality’s media office on its Facebook page, the deaths were a result of the usual operations to clean the pipeline from the Mellitah-Azizia-Khoms complex by technicians of the Sirte Oil and Gas Production and Manufacturing Company, by placing a pipe cleaning skimmer at the gas transmission station.
The office explained that during the process of placing the skimmer to clean the pipes, a reverse gas leak occurred, which led to it colliding with the technicians in front of it, which led to the death of two technicians and injury of 3 others, 2 of whom were seriously injured, and one person was slightly injured. The leak was controlled and the station is operating normally.
