The American Congressman Joe Wilson stated that he urges Warlord Khalifa Haftar not to make the big mistake of allowing an expanded presence for Russian President Vladimir Putin in Libya through new naval bases.
This came as part of a series of posts by the US politician on his X platform about Russia.
Wilson is one of the American lawmakers behind the “Stabilizing Libya” bill, which was passed by the US House of Representatives in 2023.
The bill stipulates that the United States has the authority to sanction foreign entities supporting factions and groups in Libya in the event of the collapse of the interim Government of National Unity and the cessation of the ceasefire agreement.
