The Attorney General announced it is pursuing members of a criminal network known as the “Al‑Amou Group” on multiple charges, including murder, abduction, drug offences, and human trafficking.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, the special committee formed by Counselor Al‑Siddiq Al‑Sour to investigate complaints and reports against the group — locally known as the “Al‑Amou Group” — has launched inquiries into incidents of murder, attempted murder, abduction, assault, unlawful deprivation of liberty, migrant smuggling, human trafficking, and the smuggling of drugs, psychotropic substances, and weapons. The investigation covers crimes attributed to the group’s leaders, its members, and associated networks.
The office stated that investigators have conducted interrogations of apprehended suspects, inspected their operational site, and seized boats used to transport migrants by sea.
The authorities also secured accommodation for 280 migrants, who were transferred to non‑detention centers. In addition, inquiries were conducted into two cases of premeditated murder and the involvement of other suspects in the ongoing illegal detention of abductees.
The Attorney General’s Office confirmed that ten suspects have been detained pending investigation, and arrest warrants have been issued for the remaining members of the group.
