Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah has welcomed the Public Prosecutor’s decision to launch two investigations into recent violence in Tripoli, including allegations of abuses by security forces.
The inquiries will examine complaints filed against members of the Central Security and Stability Support Apparatus and their affiliated units, following unrest in the capital earlier this month.
Dbeibah said the move demonstrates the state’s seriousness in confronting violations and holding perpetrators accountable. He described the investigations as a key part of reinforcing the rule of law.
“These steps complement the precise security and military operations carried out by the Ministries of Defense and Interior in the Abu Salim area,” Dbeibah said, adding that the operations succeeded in restoring order and state authority.
The Public Prosecutor has also formed a committee to investigate injuries among protesters and security personnel, deaths of detainees in state facilities, civilian casualties, and reports of theft and vandalism affecting both private and public property during the disturbances.
