The Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that it is following, with great interest, the recent signing of an agreement by two countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea, defining what they perceive to be their exclusive economic zones.

The Ministry added, in a statement commenting on the Egyptian-Greek agreement, regarding the demarcation of their maritime borders, that it is also following with interest the statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, at a press conference on the issue.

The Libyan authorities affirmed that it would not allow any party the opportunity to violate Libya’s maritime rights, reiterating the implementation of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed with Turkey regarding the representation of maritime areas, which does not conflict with International Maritime Law and international agreements and conventions in particular.
