The Media Center of the Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) said that Aqila Saleh agreed with the Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Hanna Tetteh, on the need to unify the executive authority and form a unified government to move forward toward holding presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible.
Saleh received Tetteh, her deputy for political affairs, Stephanie Koury, and their accompanying delegation at his office in Benghazi on Wednesday to mark Tetteh’s first visit to the city since her arrival in Libya last Thursday.
According to the Media Center’s Facebook page, Saleh discussed with Tetteh the latest developments in the country, emphasizing the need to maintain cooperation and communication with the UN mission and the international community. He reaffirmed the House of Representatives’ commitment to the political agreement, the outcomes of the 6+6 Committee, and all efforts aimed at ending political division.
The Media Center also reported that Tetteh reaffirmed her continuous and serious efforts to rebuild trust between various parties by bringing their views closer together.
