Libyan Businessmen Council (LBC) has raised doubts about the Italian consortium Aeneas, which was granted a multimillion contract to rebuild Tripoli International Airport.

In a letter to the head of Audit Bureau, the LBC said the contract constitutes an explicit violation of local laws regulating such projects.

The LBC added the deal is not clear, especially that the contract was signed suddenly without prior discussion over its terms.

“We demand the Audit Bureau to examine the reasons behind the sudden signing of the contract which was done without any introduction,” the LBC statement reads.

Aeneas was awarded the multimillion deal earlier this month.
