The National Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced a major increase in gas supplies to power stations, as part of efforts to strengthen electricity generation ahead of the summer peak.
In a statement, the NOC said its subsidiary Sirte Oil Company had completed repairs on more than 120 critical points along the pipeline between Brega and Sidra, increasing gas flow through the Brega–Misrata line to between 130 and 150 million cubic feet per day—a record high not seen in over a decade.
Officials say the improvement in gas pressure is expected to enhance the capacity of key power plants, especially in Misrata, easing pressure on other stations in Al-Khums, Tripoli, and Zawiya.
Meanwhile, Mellitah Oil & Gas is continuing electronic survey work on the offshore pipeline from Sabratha to the Mellitah Complex.
The operation, conducted in coordination with the General Electricity Company and the Libyan Iron and Steel Company, has led to a temporary reduction in output to ensure safety during maintenance and inspection.
