The General Director of the Ibn Sina Hospital in Sirte, Mohammed Al-Sreeti, has disclosed that maintenance work is underway in the hospital by the team appointed by the UN-proposed government’s Health Ministry as well as the crisis committee that was appointed by the Minister of Health in September.
“The Ibn Sina Hospital is going to resume its medical services for the public immediately after the liberation of Sirte from IS radicals.” Dr. Al-Sreeti pointed out.
He added that most of the vital medical devices and machines were not stolen from the hospital, pinpointing that IS had only stolen some light equipment before they were kicked out of the hospital.
“Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos forces are securing the hospital and they have protected it using sand barriers to thwart any outlaws’ attempts to rob its equipment.” Al-Sreeti indicated.
He also said that there are some efforts directed at reopening the rural hospital in Zamzam in the coming days, pointing out that there are also intentions to reopen the maternity and surgery sections until Ibn Sina Hospital in Sirte is ready.
On August 10, the Misrata-led forces announced the recapture of the Ibn Sina Hospital in Sirte after pushing IS militants out of it.
