The UN envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, has stressed the need for holding free, inclusive and credible elections in Libya, recalling the efforts of the Presidential Council, the African Union, the UN mission and other partners on national reconciliation.

This came in a meeting held on Sunday in Tripoli with a number of members of the Committee to Follow up on the Conditions of Political Prisoners, representing the various Libyan components and regions.

The UN envoy got acquainted with their views on the process of national reconciliation and transitional justice and listened to their concerns about the situation of the detainees.
