The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Libya, Abduolaye Bathily, has urged the Libyan authorities and political leaders to pay due attention to the rights of children, who constitute the real pillar of the country’s future, and called on them to work to provide an environment that protects children’s rights to education, health care, safety, and participation in public life.

This came during the UN envoy’s participation in the event organized by UNICEF in partnership with the General Authority for Cinema, Theater and Arts to honour children’s rights champions from all over Libya.

Bathily, in a post on his account on the “X” platform, expressed his delight at participating in the event and praised in his speech the contributions of boys and girls and their tireless efforts to protect and promote their rights in their local communities and their active involvement for national reconciliation and the promotion of peace and stability in Libya.
