Iraq has decided to reopen its embassy in Libya after 9 years of closure and resume diplomatic work to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries.

This came in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

"Iraq decides to reopen its embassy in Libya and resume diplomatic work in order to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and to provide services to the Iraqi community”, Al-Sahhaf said.

Before three weeks, Iraq announced that it had informed the Libyan side of its desire to reopen its embassy in Tripoli.
