Italian Deputy Prime Minister/ Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani has renewed calls for strengthening border security between Libya and Tunisia, the Italian Nova Agency reported Monday.

Tajani made his remarks on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting in the Western Balkans.

Last month, in Brussels, the Italian minister said the situation on the borders between Libya and Tunisia is becoming more fragile, leading to a new flow of immigration from Tunisia, as he called for more EU action to address the issue.

On the other hand, Tunisian Interior Minister Kamal al-Fiqi said on Friday that their border with Libya is secure and is not a cause for concern.
