The African Union Chairperson's special Envoy for Libya, Amira El-Fadil, said that the joint AU-EU working group to address the issues of illegal immigration in Libya will end its work by the end of May.

Fadil also said in a press statement that both the AU and EU met in the Ethiopian capital last week and discussed efforts to address illegal migration.

She confirmed that the group succeeded in repatriating 14,000 migrants to their countries and about 2,000 refugees to a third country, adding that they also succeeded in closing 18 shelters for migrants in Libya in cooperation with the Libyan government.
