Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Libya appears incapable of regaining its statehood in a statement on Thursday.

"The ongoing situation in Libya creates many problems in the coastal area of Africa and the Sahara region," Lavrov added.

The top Russian diplomat accused the G20 member states of acting irresponsibly, saying that since the establishment of the bloc in 1999, the situation in countries such as Libya remained unaddressed despite the western intervention in these states.
