Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi has emphasized the importance of continuing the exchange of strategic and operational information between Rome and Tripoli, during his meeting with Libyan Interior Minister Emad Trabelsi at a recent ministerial conference in Rome.
At the meeting, Piantedosi expressed solidarity with the Libyan people for the devastating floods that swept eastern Libya and pledged Italy's support to the affected families.
The Italian Minister said he is pushing for a project with Europol to strengthen the investigation of activities related to combating human traffickers, according to Aki news agency.
He also called on the European Council of Justice and Home Affairs to increase funding for supported voluntary return projects and to promote the economic reintegration of migrants in their countries of origin.
