The head of the United Nations Independent Fact-Finding Mission (FFM) to Libya, Mohamed Auajjar, has stressed the need for accountability to end the rampant impunity currently prevailing in the country.

In the final report of the FFM, Auajjar called on the Libyan authorities to develop a human rights plan and a comprehensive roadmap that focuses on victims to achieve transitional justice without delay, and to hold all those responsible for human rights violations accountable.

The Libyan government is obligated to investigate allegations of human rights violations and crimes in areas under its control in accordance with international standards, as there are no meaningful steps have been taken to reduce this disturbing path, he added.
