A Libyan Coast Guard patrol has intercepted Wednesday a group of illegal immigrants from African nationalities off the coast of Garabulli town, east of Tripoli.

A source from the Coast Guard said the 116 migrants, who included five women and 14 children, were on board a rubber boat en route to Italy.

The source added that the migrants are from Mali, Nigeria, Mauritania, Ivory Coast, Gambia and Guinea.
