The National Center for Standardization  and Metrology has organized a workshop on genetically modified plant raw materials used in feed manufacturing, in the presence of the Minister of Economy and Trade, Mohammed Al-Hawij.

Al-Hawij pointed out, in a speech during the workshop, the importance of the role of workshops with the participation of national experts to develop standard specifications for food products and services that affect consumer food security.

He also called for the use of experiences and studies from Arab and Islamic countries to develop specifications related to seeds as well as halal foods and products.

The attendees followed a presentation of the stages of traditional genetic improvement and biotechnology, applications of genetic engineering in the field of agriculture and concerns related to genetically modified plants.
