The US Special Envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, on Tuesday, deemed the unanimous Security Council decision to extend the UN mission's mandate in Libya a strong support from the international community for the UN's efforts to achieve elections and a unified government.
He reiterated Washington's commitment to working with the UN, international partners, and Libyan leaders toward "this goal” [elections] based on the progress achieved through the 6+6 process.
On Monday, the Security Council unanimously passed a resolution to extend the mandate of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya for one year until October 31, 2024.
