The Russian Foreign Ministry considered the signing of the ceasefire agreement in Libya an important step in overcoming the severe crisis in the country.

The ministry’s spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, said in an official comment on the ceasefire agreement that Moscow considers this event “an important step on the roadway to overcoming the severe crisis in Libya and the start of an in-depth political dialogue, the ultimate goal of which is to restore the country’s unity, establish effective government agencies and revive the social and economic fabric of the society”.

She called on all parties to abide by the signed agreement reached in Geneva and to avoid fighting on all sides.
