The Scottish authorities have welcomed the US court’s fixing of a date for the trial of the Libyan Abu Ajela al-Marimi, accused in the “Lockerbie” case.

Abu Ajela, 72, is scheduled to appear in court in Washington, D.C., on May 12, 2025.

The US authorities accuse Abu Ajela of making the bomb that caused the downing of a plane over the Scottish town of Lockerbie on December 21, 1988, killing all 259 passengers and crew members on board.
