Zuwara Security Directorate said on Friday that it foiled an attempt to smuggle illegal immigrants to Europe after a raid on smugglers’ den used to gather illegal immigrants before sending them by sea to Italy.
The spokesman for the security directorate, Hafed Muammer, confirmed in a press statement that they had arrested one of the gang members and 139 migrants, including 17 women and two children of African nationalities, in addition to the seizure of three boats with their equipment.
It is worth noting that Zuwara Security Directorate announced last week that it foiled an attempt to smuggle migrants on their way to Europe.
