The United Nations Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has affirmed its readiness to provide technical and logistical support to the (6 + 6) Joint Committee formed by the House of Representatives (HoR) and the High Council of State (HCS) to prepare the electoral laws.
"As part of his comprehensive approach to elections in Libya, Bathily -the UNSMIL' head- is engaging political party leaders, traditional leaders and notables, and women and youth group leaders from all regions of Libya in addition to the country’s top political and military leaders," the mission wrote on Twitter Wednesday.
The UNSMIL retweeted Bathily's remarks before the UN Security Council earlier this month, in which he urged the HoR and HCS to expedite the work of the 6+6 committee and publish a timebound work program for elections to take place this year.
