Zuwara Security Directorate foiled an attempt by 185 illegal immigrants, including 24 women, to sail to Italy from Zuwara city late on Saturday night.
On its Facebook page, the Directorate clarified that the immigrants were staying at a house used for smuggling purposes in the region, noting that they were of African, Moroccan and Pakistani nationalities.
The immigrants were later transferred to the headquarters of the Directorate to complete the legal procedures, before handing them over to the competent authorities.
